Hello — I'm Kateryn Cole.

I write adventure stories for kids who read past bedtime. The kind of book that gets smuggled under a blanket with a flashlight, where the danger is real, the rules are unfair, and the kid on the page is braver than she thought she was.

I wrote all six books before publishing the first one. That was deliberate. I remember waiting a year for the next book in a series and losing the thread of it — no reader of mine is going to wait like that. Every release date on this site is a book that is already finished.

And I'm not done with this world. There's a prequel trilogy on my desk right now, about the kids who came through the mirror before Jr did. After that, Jr and Dakota have a thirteenth birthday coming, and a fourteenth, and the hallway will be waiting for them each time.

Cypress Hollow isn't on a map, but the green-tiled bathroom is real, and so is the crooked mirror, and so is most of the Louisiana in these pages. I grew up around houses that made noises nobody explained.
