Press kit

Everything a reporter, reviewer or bookseller needs to cover The Mirror, in one place and free to use.

Two twelve-year-olds are pulled through a bathroom mirror into a hallway of doors, each one a world with its own rules, and each one holding a child who got there first.

The Mirror is a six-book portal fantasy for readers aged 8–12 by Louisiana author and homeschool parent Kateryn Cole. All six books were written before the first was published, and they release six titles in eight months, from 5 October 2026 to 17 May 2027.

Short bio. Kateryn Cole writes middle-grade adventure from Louisiana. The Mirror is her first series.

Longer bio. Kateryn Cole writes middle-grade adventure from Louisiana. She homeschooled her children, including the son whose question began this series. When he was twelve, standing in front of two facing mirrors, he asked what if that is another world, and what if it pulled you in. The two of them built the rest of it standing there. He is nineteen now and in the Marine Corps. Her daughter edits the drafts. Basic Training is her first book.

Story angles

  • A question from a twelve-year-old, now a Marine, that became six books
  • Writing all six before publishing one, and why kids shouldn’t have to wait a year for the next
  • Real peril for 8–12s: high stakes, no gore
  • A homeschool parent launching a Louisiana small press
  • What a classroom of reluctant readers asks an author

Interviews and review copies

Kateryn is available for interviews in person across Louisiana, or by phone or video anywhere. Books One and Two are both available to reviewers now. Covering them together gives a far better picture of the series than Book One alone. Email hello@kateryncole.com and mention your outlet and deadline.
